Clean place very friendly service . I order three types of tacos carnitas , steak , chicken . The meats are very well seasoned great taste. BUTTT! They were so dry no juices the carnitas was more like chopped pieces of pork instead of nice juicy shreds of pork. The chicken same chicken chunks. And the steak the same way. No juices. I have been around authentic Mexican cuisine and this is not it. But they tasted alright they could have been way much better. Thus , 3 Stars

When the call for tacos arises from within, I answer! Stopped in on a random day during lunch time after a quick Google search for nearby tacos (the real stuff). *Beware, not many parking spaces & those that are available have specific days/times for street cleaning which means you’ll be asking for a ticket as you enjoy your meal. The items chosen were of course tacos, mine the pescatarian version. While the menu was long & very inclusive- I think it was a bit too much for me. I like a more simple style menu that includes appetizers and entrees in an easy to read format… Nonetheless, this did not take too much away from the dining experience for me because I already knew what I wanted. You’re pretty much automatically served chips and the request was made for a small guacamole to add. Unfortunately that requested was fulfilled with guacamole topped with cheese…Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking the forward thinking. But in these days & times I like the option of requesting dairy/toppings. There’s plenty of dietary restrictions which often turn people away from eating out, but I also think there’s plenty of room to a accommodate many of those restrictions simply by offering buildable dishes & allowing patrons to build them based on their preferences. I digress… The entrees that were ordered (birria & shrimp tacos) didn’t come out too quick, were hot with noticeable steam, & very colorful. Unfortunately, they lacked seasoning- salt specifically. I appreciated the freshness of the dish, ingredients, and presentation… but what is good food without seasoning? Is it still good?? I need my senses I awakened. Not only do I want to taste the food, I want to fully indulge in the experience. Everything else was great-our waitress was attentive and the atmosphere felt homey. I just needed the seasoning!

5 stars If you’re looking for authentic Mexican street food in the heart of Olney’s 5th Street, Los Tacos Philly is an absolute must. From the moment you walk in, the warm service sets the tone for an unforgettable experience. The menu is packed with real-deal Mexican flavors, from the classics to bold regional specialties that are hard to find elsewhere in Philly. What really blew me away was the freshness of the guacamole—you can taste the quality in every bite. The aguas frescas are next-level refreshing, perfectly balanced and made fresh to order. The seafood selection is outstanding, especially the whole roasted fish with tamarind glaze—a flavor bomb that melts in your mouth. The seafood rice in adobo is rich, smoky, and deeply satisfying, while the authentic cucumber ceviche (Aguachile) made with the catch of the day is bright, zesty, and super fresh. This place captures the soul of a Mexico City mercado with every dish. Highly recommended for anyone craving a true taste of Mexico right here in Philly.

With a phone number ready for your inquiries at +1 215-910-5788, you will find yourself drawn in by its welcoming atmosphere and deliciously crafted menu.

Los Tacos recently underwent an impressive makeover that left the interiors fresh and inviting—a perfect setting to indulge in mouthwatering Mexican dishes. Many patrons, like Magdalis Melo, have praised the restaurant for its excellent ambiance and flavorful tacos. You can expect a colorful menu brimming with varied offerings, from carnitas to birria. However, certain reviews suggest that while the flavors may tease, the execution could use a touch more finesse, particularly in retaining the juiciness of the meats.

Customer experiences, like that of Jessica Rodríguez, highlight an important aspect of any dining experience: consistency. While flavors can be well-received, the texture and moisture of dishes like carnitas and chicken tacos are crucial for an authentic taste. Such inconsistencies can lead to mixed reviews, leaving diners wanting more than just satisfactory flavors.

On the flip side, many guests share glowing evaluations of the attentive service, such as from Joanne Scott-Johnson, who felt royally treated by her server, Alejandro. This dedication enhances the dining experience, making it more memorable. It’s this blend of pleasant service and delightful dishes that could make your visit worthwhile.

As you explore the menu, the wide range of options may feel overwhelming, as noted by Jamie Fulton. A simpler layout would likely enhance the experience, allowing diners to focus on their cravings without excessive deliberation. Whether you choose shrimp tacos or indulge in enchiladas verdes de pollo, the emphasis on freshness and presentation can be a highlight—though a sprinkle of seasoning may be the secret ingredient that brings the dish to life.

So when craving an authentic taste of Mexico right in Philadelphia, Los Tacos Mexican Restaurant stands ready to serve.
